Wooden hedgehog

I try to find a use for as much off-cuts of wood as I can, so that I waste as little as possible. These hedgehogs are cut using a band saw from what would have been waste wood of other woodworkers who work on a larger scale.
Once I have cut them, I drill holes for the eyes, sand them, soften the edges, oil them and then carefully hand paint the sides and little wooden heart. Each hedgehog is given three or four layers of colourful paint and finished with a layer of satin toy varnish.I cut out the card layers to create the hedgehog spikes before gluing them to the main body with the little wood heart held in it’s paws.
