Wooden Bird Hanging Decoration
Tax included.
I try to find a use for as much as possible, so that I waste as little as possible. These birds are cut using a band saw from what would have been waste wood of other woodworkers who work on a larger scale.
Once I have cut them, I drill holes for the eyes and sand them, soften the edges, oil them and then carefully hand paint the edges allowing the paint to roll over the just enough to create a soft outline to the profile of the bird. Each bird is given three or four layers of colourful paint and finished with a layer of satin toy varnish. I attach a small hoop and finish with the hanging ribbon.
