Wooden hamster with heart

I try to find a use for as much off-cuts of wood as I can, so that I waste as little as possible. These hamsters are cut using a band saw from what would have been waste wood of other woodworkers who work on a larger scale.
Once I have cut them, I drill holes for the eyes, sand them, soften the edges, oil them and then carefully hand paint the sides and a heart. Each hamster is given three or four layers of colourful paint and finished with a layer of satin toy varnish.The ears are hand cut felt and are glued into predrilled holes. I finish them by painting a little nose and use a tiny Pom-pom for their tail.
